How to make an anti-inflammatory Compress cabbage to reverse the swelling and inflammation

Cabbage Compress Col is known for something more than the side effects that sounds funny coming shortly after consumption. Here at HHL, we loved the cabbage for its high and low calorie nutritional benefits. It is full of vitamin C, K and potassium! We also loved that is the fight against cancer and anti-inflammatory powers (and delight that makes it oh-so easy to eat). Now we have even more to love! Have you ever heard of a compress of cabbage? How to make an anti-inflammatory Compress cabbage to reverse the swelling and inflammation

An old Irish blessing reads, “Let the cabbage leaves his ever be free of worms.”




Col has been used to treat skin swollen and bruised for centuries. Its full of phytonutrients, vitamins, anthocyanins and glutamine containing anti-inflammatory properties that are good for joint anti-cancer and anti-pain! It has been used to treat arthritis and sports injuries. The evidence has been anecdotal, but many arthritis sufferers reduce their medical use by adding cabbage leaves to treatment. How they have used cabbage? As a wrap!

What you’ll need:

  • Col
  • gauze dressing
  • aluminum foil
  • Oven
  • rolling pin / bottle of wine / meat hammer

How it is done:

  1. buy a large (preferably red)
  2. cabbage organic

  3. peeling an outer leaves and wash thoroughly
  4. dry the bottom sheet and cut hard stem
  5. cabbage leaf rather than counter, and with a rolling pin would bruise the leaf to release the juice within
  6. coat cabbage in foil and place in the oven for about minutes to warm up, but does not make them hot
  7. Place cabbage directly on the affected area
  8. cover the permit with a bandage or gauze and elevate the area
  9. Keep cabbage compress for up to an hour. Repeat 2-3 times a day and change the cabbage leaf at a time. You should start to feel the benefits for the next day.

(optional: to make a cold compress, cool the cabbage before the above process and remove # 5)

The reason why we want to use red cabbage is that it contains anthocyanins (the chemical that gives red cabbage color) and called anthocyanins to reduce pain and inflammation articulate. Both red and green cabbage are studied for their health properties and other healing effects of cabbage juice on ulcers.

Warning: col allergies are rare, but the swelling or itching cabbage stands means it must be removed immediately. Consult your physician if irritation persists or worsens.
