Mediterranean diet has additional benefits for women

Summer is the best time to test the Mediterranean diet, not only for weight loss, but now for risk reduction uterine cancer also.

In a study involving more than 5,000 women, researchers from Italy IRCCS-Istituto di Pharmacological Research found that Italian women who followed the diet most closely – by eating seven to nine of its food groups daily benefits – reduced their risk of uterine cancer by 57 percent.

Even women whose daily diets including six of the nine components of the diet reduced the risk by 46 percent and those whose diets included five components to reduce their risk by 34 percent. No benefit for women whose diets included less than five components was observed.

As you know, the Mediterranean diet emphasizes the consumption of vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes, cereals, potatoes, fish and monounsaturated fats, but does not include the amount of meat, milk or other dairy products and only moderate amounts of alcohol.

According to the National Cancer Institute, 54.870 women will develop uterine cancer in 2015, and these cancers account for 3.3 percent of new cases of cancer in the US every year.
