Homeopathy can Help Depression? ;
Eloise grabs the hand of her sister while sitting in front of me relate their symptoms. She explains that she is desperately lonely, and she is so depressed and anxious, she is making herself physically ill. She has not ceased to mourn for three days, the stomach hurts so much you can barely stand, and she has had a big lump in my throat, chest pain, diarrhea and vomiting. Eloise had been battling depression for years despite trying many different drugs and this break was the last straw. He felt helpless and hopeless; Finally, he confessed to his sister who had considered suicide, though she denied any intention or plan at this time. All I wanted was to get out of the “unbearably stuffy room,” spending time outdoors, for depression to go away, for someone to hug her and hug her and tell her everything would be fine.
Unfortunately, the story of Eloise is not uncommon. The National Institute of Health reports that, on average, about 1 in 4 adults or about 61.5 million Americans, the experience of mental illness or depression in a given year 3 . There are over 14.8 million people in the United States suffer from severe depression 1 . In fact, mood disorders such as depression are so common that they are the third most common cause of hospitalization for both young people and adults aged 18-44 2 .
Results like these are amazing. The standard of care for treating depression is psychotherapy, medication and electroconvulsive therapy 4 . Not including psychotherapy, these options, although it is helpful for some patients may be harmful to others.
Fortunately, they are not very effective and cost-effective alternatives.
in Naturopathy there are countless ways to address these cases. After more than a decade studying mental health, first as a clinical counselor and then as a naturopathic physician, I found that homeopathy offers the most outstanding results.
applied Homeopathy is a system of medicine and pharmacology which describes how to use homeopathic medicines. In order to maximize its therapeutic efficacy, homeopathic medicines are prescribed based on a system of like-cures-like. At first understand the symptoms of a particular resource and then examining closely the unique and individual symptoms of a patient, a naturopathic physician can determine an individualized prescription.
The goal is to match the symptoms of the remedy with the patient’s symptoms.
In naturopathic medicine, we do not just determine a diagnosis of mental health and then give it a homeopathic medicine. The way in which each patient experiences a set of mental health diagnosis and accompanying symptoms is unique to them. If you look at the case of Eloise in detail, you should select the symptoms that are unique to it, in a state of depression. For example, Eloise tells the incredible despair and depression along with anxiety. Experiencing physical symptoms include chest pain, diarrhea and stomach discomfort that makes it go forward. Moreover, not all my patients are reluctant so intensely to a hot stuffy room as it was Eloise. Eloise also wanted very strongly companionship and comfort while many of my patients prefer to be alone. As shown, Eloise clearly had “depression”, but some of the symptoms of their particular experience of depression are, in fact, quite unique.
The next step is to go to the “repertoire” and then the “Materia Medica” to find the homeopathic medicine that best suits the characteristic symptoms Eloise with these. Here are some of the rubrics of the repertory of the key symptoms that I selected, based on the symptoms that I mentioned above.
As you can see in the picture, Pulsatilla is the remedy that appears, and some other remedies to consider are Arsenicum album, phosphorus, and possibly Natrum mur.
The next step is to go to the Materia Medica crosstabs and determine the best option. Below are some notes on homeopathic Pulsatilla, in Allen’s Encyclopedia:
As you can see, Puls covers your only symptoms incredibly well! Pulsatilla can treat type specific depression that has Eloise. This is done by stimulating the body to heal itself and, in response, the patient natural and effective way to feel better.
Eloise, her sister, and I got together with a plan that includes access to resources crisis, psychotherapy, and homeopathic Pulsatilla 30C. We did a check 24 hours later and Eloise reported:
naturopathic and homeopathic medicines are incredibly powerful. The body has an innate ability to heal. Whether a physical injury or emotional distress, the body is designed for full and complete recovery. If you’re ready to feel good again consider finding a naturopathic doctor who is a good fit.
