meditation is an ancient practice that has long been steeped in tradition, mystery and myth. Contrary to what is often depicted in today’s society, not only meditation involves sitting in the lotus position chanting the mantra “OM” for hours. Although this method of meditation is still practiced by many modern meditators, which has only a small aspect of the many types of meditation techniques practiced today. A study by the Harvard Medical School found that meditation lowers blood pressure, making the body less sensitive to stress hormones in a similar way to drugs to lower blood pressure. 3. Improved self-acceptance
When we meditate, we become more aware of, and more able to control our thoughts. A key part of meditation revolves around realizing our thoughts without judging or getting caught up in their stories or meanings. This helps us to develop a different perspective on our internal dialogue, develop a greater understanding of ourselves and the practice of realizing our thoughts and feelings without attaching meaning or judgment for them.
