In like a lamb, like a man ;
The reference lion / lamb used for a long time is a good starting point for a discussion of what I see to be a key issue for men in this moment. It is well known that the health of men (through many physical, social, emotional dimensions-, etc.) leaves much to be desired, and in this article I would like to present a perspective on the lack of role models for men, focusing on the issue of balanced aggression. Certainly the character of the men in leadership, as evidenced by the recent follies presidential candidates, is because of the need to examine what might be happening to men.
For a long time, men denied the yin aspects of themselves in order to fit within the margins of traditional male norms. I was confused. Men are supposed to be strong, aggressive, proud and independent Lions, but was unbalanced because they could not feed the yin aspect or “lamb” of himself. So if they felt it or not, men put on a front and did not reveal any vulnerability to other men. Despite some developments in this case, this is still true-men act out bravado to fend off any perception of yin qualities such as performance, malleable and receptive. The problem with men is more complex than this. We might consider that men are actually exhibit what is known as “false yang” like coffee. The feeling that coffee gives us is “energy” but not necessarily exuberance that comes from within. It is false yang, because it makes us feel something that is not authentic. Coffee is actually running because for making us feel full of energy, more energy is used, taking advantage of our reserves. The problem comes when we do not fill our reserve yin, lamb. Due to fear of being seen as “less than” men have a false yang. This would not be so bad, except that it is also exhausting because there is little authenticity. (Are you thinking Donald Trump?) It seems that men have lost their authentic lion .
In my 20 years of working with men, I realized that as women rightly have taken back their power, natural ferocity men has decreased. Indeed yang energy is less welcome by men. men’s aggression was wrong and therefore has been used to seriously hurt women, children, men, animals and plants. (Note-No’m talking about hunting animals or plant collection. I mean abusive treatment of animals and the wanton destruction of the plant world.) But, and this is very important, this does not mean that men shouldn ‘t express your lion. Denying one of Yang, a lion’s ferocity, just as serious consequences, one could argue, as too express, as I’ve written about in the past . Put a tight lid on a boiling pot or add pressure to the intensity and no risk of explosion or implosion (think of the physical and emotional consequences of “no expression” of anger, violence, perhaps impulsive, suicide, and cancer come to mind.) discuss this with Razi Berry in my next segment seminar Summit cancer .
The medicine for children and men in the world at this time is the connection between the transformer boys / young men and wrinkled elderly.
The solution to yang aggression of men is not doing more like a lamb, as happened in the 80s with the “sensitive man the new era “, but rather to focus their ferocity toward something greater. The way to teach is by direct contact with other men, which is painfully absent in our world. Men do not live in proximity to other men. Hairdressers and men’s organizations have been replaced by electronic and virtual relationships facebook /. In the natural world, young male lions train with other male lions. These “sparring” interactions may be missing for many men who stay at home and care for mom or adhere to their duties as a parent or hide in the mask educated businessman. Where is the wild? We could say that men have been castrated their ferocity.
In the human world, where there is no need for physical conquest of the desert force, young people need other men in pride to teach temperance and self-government. In a pride, male lions young learn from their elders, then they are forced to find their own way. It is to live or die. That rite of passage no longer exists for young men (especially since there are so few real kings of the jungle, or great men to facilitate the process), so there is little guidance for men to touch and channel primitive aggression of a young man. Medicine for human males at this time is to create links between children / youth and wrinkled elderly. Who can say if one is wise? In my interviews with men, I’m finding something extraordinary in most men, it’s just a matter of accessing it, which is the art of medicine. I also think that these newbies / older connections are especially strong where there is an element of adventure for both young and old, because the boundaries between them dissipate, allowing a transformative experience.
As Yin Yang Feeds, Feeds Leon Cordero
One of the principles of Taoism is the yin and yang mutually create each other. For too long, men do not feed your yin aspect of himself, and therefore yang ran out. It is not surprising that we have an epidemic of Low T, erectile dysfunction and infertility. The only fierce, has not been fed. Who is responsible for feeding? Find a king of the jungle.
