Could new gene discovery reduce fractures in older adults?

Researchers have identified a gene that regulates bone density and strength in a study led by the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Wnt16 was observed that the gene has a strong link with the density and thickness of cortical bone, a discovery that has enormous implications for the prevention of fractures in older adults.

Each year, more than 60 years throughout the country suffers an injury as a result of a fall, which greatly increases their risk of mortality.
