MP HC directs state government to treat swine flu and ensure sufficient stocks of medicines

Indore 13 Feb: the High Court of Madhya Pradesh has directed the state government to make arrangements to deal with swine flu in the state and ensure the provision of adequate supply of drugs needed in hospitals. These instructions were given by a division bench of Justice PK Jaiswal and Justice Alok Varma in response to a PIL filed by a local lawyer Ajay Mishra, arguing that in the absence of appropriate measures to address the swine flu provisions, patients were constantly succumbing the dreaded virus. In a detailed order, the division bench directed the state government to supply medicines stores private pharmacies. The court also ordered the State to ensure the availability of an adequate number of fans in government hospitals to provide free services to such patients. He went to the State to ensure the availability of sufficient stocks of medicines and masks in hospitals as well as increase the number of beds for swine flu patients. The bank led the mains socket free ambulances, beds and fans to swine flu patients. The bank highlighted the need to establish a laboratory in Indore to test swine flu and spray targeted drugs (chemicals) into drains and elsewhere to kill the virus.
