Home remedies for type II diabetes

Aug 7, 2019 | | Say something

Type II diabetes is one of the most common noncommunicable diseases that affect adults and more and more children in the Western Hemisphere. Simply put, diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high for long periods of time.

Glucose is the body's main source of energy and comes from the food we eat. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, helps the glucose in food to enter our cells to be used as energy. If the pancreas does not produce enough (or any) insulin or the body's cells cannot use insulin properly, then glucose is not effectively used by the cells and remains in the blood.

Over time, having too much glucose in the blood can cause various health complications, such as heart disease, nerve degeneration, eye dysfunction, kidney damage, poor circulation and more. Type II diabetes is a form of the disease that is mainly caused by unhealthy lifestyle practices (for example, poor diet and infrequent exercise), as well as genetic predisposition (if found in your family). Although diabetes is quite serious if left unchecked, you can take steps to control the disease naturally and stay healthy.
