A mother of four, affected by poverty, has been devastated by breast cancer after trying to treat the disease with cheap home remedies.
Christina Ombao, 39, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2016 after a lump became painful.
After the diagnosis, Christina's family was unable to pay the costs of hospital treatment in the city of Sagay, Philippines, and decided to stay at home where she used herbal drinks and topical remedies.
Unfortunately, his condition has worsened. The tumor has eaten all of your breast tissue and has broken through your skin before swelling to the size of your head.
Christina explained that she had chosen to prioritize her children over their health.
She said: “We didn't have enough money for the treatment. I had a two year old baby at that time.
“All my time was spent caring for the baby and the other children. We didn't have a penny left over to pay for the trip to the hospital.
“Yes, now I have pain. It's uncomfortable and prevents me from sleeping. "
Christina's photos taken this month show her using an improvised wire frame to try to protect the exposed tissue.
His physical health deteriorated rapidly and he had to leave his job as a babysitter.
Her husband, Alberto Cabilin, who works in the construction industry, now takes care of her with her four children of six, eight, 10 and 11 years.
Christina believes she could have developed a cancerous lump while she was at work during an accident.
She added: “ I used to be a babysitter. Once upon a time, my chest was accidentally beaten while playing with the child I was caring for. I think that's what caused this & # 39; & # 39 ;.
Friends and family raised money earlier this month to pay for Christina to visit the hospital, which is several hours away from her remote home.
The family is now waiting for hospital results.
