restful sleep becomes a thing of the past when you have a newborn. But that does not mean you can not feel peaceful and well rested. The key is to make the most of the time to sleep. If it takes thirty minutes to fall asleep, you get at least thirty minutes of rest. Certain breathing techniques can help you fall sleep faster and get a restful sleep. Deepak Sharma, professor of meditation, art of life shares a breathing technique that will help you find peace and balance.

This is how you can do in three easy steps

  • Press your right nostril with the help of his right thumb and take a long breath and deeply through the left nostril.
  • Hold your breath for four seconds and slowly release the left nostril. The slow exhalation is believed to synchronize the nerves in the lung, heart, brain, the limbic system and helps you relax and prepare your body for sleep a night.
  • Then press the left nostril and inhale and exhale through the right nostril. This completes the first round. Perform this exercise continuously for 3-5 minutes instantly to give your body a boost of oxygen and relax.

This technique also helps to soothe tense muscles and wash the stress on your body and mind to help you sleep. This breathing technique will also help you let go of your stressful thoughts and negative emotions that make it difficult to sleep. It will also help you figure out tips that work if you face problems get your newborn to sleep.
